10 LBS and counting!

So down 10 lbs in 3 weeks. It's been crazy around here so 10 lbs is such an accomplishment for me. Between working, getting meg ready for Miss NH, committee chair for Old Home Day, and home responsibilities I am so proud that I have for the most part stayed committed and on track. It's never easy to start something new or change how we are programmed to think sometimes. For most people we are programmed at an early age to think of food as a comfort and we are misinformed of the dangers of things in our food. We as human beings are not supposed to live on a meat laden diet. Cattle was not meant for the purpose of feeding on it. Cattle now a days is worse because it is being injected with hormones that we are not supposed to be ingesting. Why do think so many of us are getting cancer and diseases that never before have been so prevalent? I wish we included in our teachings at school a healthier way to teach our kids about more of a plant based diet. If we start at an early age we wouldn't have the problems with childhood obesity and kids with cancers we have never even heard about. I think fear of the unknown is worse than fear of change. How do you feel about change? How do feel about learning something new? What motivates you to learn new things? Food for thought....would you change the way you eat if your life depended on it? Would you become vegan or even vegetarian if your life depended on it? If the answer is yes which I know most of you are syaing yes...Than why don't you think it is important to learn about a way of eating that could prevent the unknown? Food for thought.....

1.5 lbs!!!

So excited 8.5 lbs in 2 weeks! I can't ask for anymore than that! My journey is just beginning and I feel amazing! Vegan mostly raw, a few slips along the way but I am doing well. No one said the tarnsition would be easy but it is rewarding and it is becoming easier. Most of the time I don't even think about how much of my vegetarianism centered around cheese. Cheese was definetly the downfall of restricting meat. Not that cheese is the devil but it has a way of making it into many dishes. Eliminating the cheese has been great, I know this may sound gross but when you don' have cheese in your diet you don' have mucus!!!!You know when you wake up and you spend the morning blowing your nose and coughing up the gross mucus that settles in your throat over night? Yes! No longer is my husband waking up to the sweet music of my nose and clearing of the mucosa throat! OK so enough about the mucus lets discuss some meals.....

Mornings have been kept to fruits.....let me let you in on a little tip Fruit is the easiest food to digest especially pineapple.

Lunches have been salads with cranberries and nuts.

Dinners have been lots of veggies and rice. Gluten free pastas with lots of fresh basil and garlic. Or some corn tortillas with grilled veggies and homemade salsa.

Snacks have been rice cakes, vegan rice pudding and veggies with hummus.

Gotta Love Mondays!

So when your dieting you always say I'll start on Monday. Right? Is that because you want to screw off all weekend and have your last official junk meal before you torture yourself into the abyss of skinniness? Well my friends let me fill you in on a little secret, if you go vegan, raw you can have anything you want! I could eat all day if I wanted. I never have to count calories or weight my food or say well I will just have 1 bite. Never again will I say I can't! Because as soon as you say you can't you want it! Staying within the guildlines of veganism or raw food can seem pretty hard core but as soon as you grasp the new food groups it becomes easy and mind numbingly simple. If I am hungry I can make a huge 5 course meal or can grab a hanful of cashews and a piece of fruit. I get to decide when and how much to eat. The ball is always in my court. What power! I never have to weigh myself in front of anyone for them to say I have lost .5 lbs in a week after counting points all week and working out 5 days.....You know why? Becuase this diet doesn't allow for that to happen to your body. You are continually losing! This is how and why our bodies were designed. Our bodies are not meant to digest meat! Do you know there is about 7 years of undigested meat in your intestinal tract right now? Stuck to the lining of the tract. Sound yummy? NOt really! Why do you think we get constipated? Your system is not meant to handle the crap we put it through. Give yourself a break. I am asking every one to take the 1 day challenge..... 1 day that you put only fruits, vegetables and grains into your body. No animal products or preservitives and tell me how you feel. I bet 9 out of 10 of you will feel refreshed and feel like you have already thinned out. I know when I go all raw by the end of the first day my rings fit better and I am not so bloated. i would love to hear your feedback if you accept the challenge. What have you got to lose? Weight?

Lovin the way I fell

Yesterday was a great food day! For breakfast I finished the cantaloupe that I have been having for breakfast every morning this week. For lunch I had an amazing Salad that I had made the night before and for dinner.....I had Corn and Huge marinated mushroom caps. I have been dying all week to make these mushroom caps. So when I got home I made up a marinade of Olive oil, spicy brown mustard, ginger, basil and lime juice. Holy crap was it good!!!!I also had made some brown rice and mixed the rice and corn together. I couldn't get enough! It was delicious! For snack I had homemade guacamole on carrot chips along with some garlic hummus. Needless to say garlic is seeping out of my pores today but I am a happy, happy girl. Everyone in my house right now is sick. Dave and Mackenzie both have colds with sore throats and are exhausted but I have the energy of 10 kids right now. Feeling so good and can't wait to weight in tomorrow. I bet you don't hear that everyday. Who really wants to weight them selves? See you tomorrow! Make it a great day!

Crazy day!

Today started off great! I had some delicious cantelope this morning for breakfast. BUT>>>>Here is the story of not preparing yourself and not having the right foods in the house. I was satrving when I got home and because I had not made a salad for myself for lunch I had some spanish rice when I got home. So instead of vegan I stayed vegetarian. Homemade spanish rice I had made monday was sitting in the fridge and it looked so good. So I ate it....and here comes the downward spiral......We had friends over for dinner and I made a pasta meal. I did make gluten free vegan pasta for myself and my daughter but I had some wine and a piece of italian bread. So here I am letting you all know it's not easy.....Prepare yourself, arm yourself to succeed! I will be having a better day today. Off to the grocery store I go.

1st day RAW-kin it

Ok so here is the run down of my new journey.
Breakfast: Cantelope:yummy
Hit the gym for 1 hour cardio work out
Lunch: BIg Salad with Clementines on the side
Dinner: Lemon-Lime Salad with lime shrimp

So as you will notice my dinner- I added some shrimp, I am slowly transitioning myself
Some people go all vegan-raw right out of the starting gate but I have learned in my experience if I go all vegan-raw the first day I end up with a headache so by the end of the week I will be transitioned vegan-raw.

Recipes:

Lemon Lime Salad
1 orange pepper
3 stalks celery
6 marinated cloves of garlic
1 mango
black olives
10 shrimp
1 lime juiced
1 lemon juiced
salt and cracked pepper
fresh basil
fresh cilantro

This was delicious! I am so full right now! I forget how full you become when you go raw. Most people think eating raw you are hungry all the time but raw food fills you up! Fiber, vitamins and minerals. Your body needs the nutrients. I love to make and try new recipes but you can make this way of life as simple or extravagant as you would like. The most important thing is having fun with it. See you tomorrow!
